Positioned centrally for the coast, countryside and the mountains, this is an excellent area for walking, mountain biking and birdwatching.
Lake, river and sea fishing are all available locally. Other activities include golf courses, dry slope skiing and horse riding. Horse riding is available locally at Gwydyr Stables in Penmachno and Snowdonia Riding Stables near Caernarfon
The famous Bodnant Garden (National Trust) is just across the valley and is a garden well worth visiting at any time of year. A winter garden opened at Bodnant in 2013. On the Bodnant estate there is also a Food Centre with a restaurant, cafe and plenty of quality local food to buy.
Conwy Castle is just down the road, and other castle such as Caernarfon and Dolwyddelan are within easy reach.
Steam railway enthusiasts can visit the Ffestiniog Railway, Welsh Highland Railway, and Snowdon Mountain Railway and others in the area.
You can also visit the North Wales coast including the victorian resort of Llandudno with it's wide promenade, pier and unspoilt seafront.
There is a good selection of shops in the area from independent shops selling local quality produce, to large supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer. There are plenty of places to eat locally including Ty Gwyn, Groes Inn and the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre.
